Eagle Ranch Academy teaches (re-teaches) our Students 8 Core Values, number seven being Trust. We consider these 8 Core Values to be the “Content of One’s Character.”
Core Value – Trust
I will earn the Trust that I have lost and taken the risk of Trusting others.
Trust is learned as an infant, young child, teen, even into young adulthood. But when it has been compromised or broken, it can be rebuilt.
At Eagle Ranch Academy, our focus is on rebuilding Trust. Students in our care have had inappropriate behaviors, and many of them have Trust issues. They have either proven that others (primarily Parents) cannot Trust them because of their behavior; or that they have reasons not to Trust others, due to some form of abuse or neglect (possibly by someone the Child feels that the Parent should have been able to protect them from).
Sometimes both have occurred, and one precipitated the other. Regardless of the reason, the focus at Eagle Ranch is rebuilding Trust through a systematic process of teaching (re-teaching) the 8 Core Values of one’s Character.
Trust Building Tools
At Eagle Ranch Academy, we have many tools available to us.
Two essential things we do are:
FIRST- we use Emotional Growth Seminars to help our students and families release themselves from the baggage of the past.
SECOND- the student begins to demonstrate the understanding, acceptance of, and the ability to internalize and live the Core Values of Accountability, Honesty, Forgiveness, Acceptance, Integrity, and Respect.
ERA Students learn from their day to day experiences at Eagle Ranch that they have the ability to rebuild their lives and get back on track by trusting the process and learning to Trust themselves and the people they love to do what is right.
Do’s and Do Not’s
Don’t
– Lie, cheat or steal.
– Be sneaky, tricky or deceptive.
– Don’t deceive.
Do
– Be sincere and respectful of others feelings.
– Tell the Truth and nothing but the Truth.
– If your Trust has been compromised, work hard to rebuild it.
Trust Defined
Merriam-Webster says, “Assured reliance on someone’s character, ability, strength, or truth; one in which confidence is placed.”
Our Definition is simple: Both Character (who you are) and Competence (your strengths and the results you produce).
Positive Parenting Tips & Reminders
Remind yourself that a mistake can produce a great teaching moment. Seize the moment, and in a firm but loving way, teach your child the realistic expectations you have.
You are the expert on your child. Are you perfect? No. Do you make mistakes? Yes. Can you learn something today that will help you be a more effective parent? Absolutely!
Hold them close, but don’t smother them. Love them, but don’t enable them. And, keep it simple with the basic, but sound rules that you enforce consistently. Take care, and use “Positive Parenting!”
