Teen Behavioral Issues Treatment

Our choice-based approach helps teens understand the consequences of their actions and learn to make better decisions—because they want to, not because they're forced.

Understanding Teen Behavioral Issues

Behavioral issues in teens—defiance, aggression, dishonesty, rule-breaking—are often symptoms of deeper struggles. These behaviors may stem from unaddressed emotional pain, family dysfunction, peer influences, or a need for control.

Unlike behavior modification programs that rely on punishment and reward, Eagle Ranch Academy uses a choice-based model. We teach teens our 8 core values—Accountability, Honesty, Forgiveness, Acceptance, Integrity, Respect, Trust, and Service—and help them understand why these values matter.

When teens internalize these values rather than just following rules to avoid consequences, the changes stick. They make better choices because it's the right thing to do.

Signs to Watch For

  • Persistent defiance and refusal to follow rules
  • Aggression toward family members or authority figures
  • Lying, stealing, or other dishonest behaviors
  • Running away or sneaking out
  • School problems: truancy, suspensions, expulsion
  • Associating with negative peer influences
