Evidence-Based Therapy
Our licensed therapists use proven, evidence-based treatment approaches tailored to each teen's unique needs and challenges.
Comprehensive Therapeutic Care
At Eagle Ranch Academy, we believe that lasting change comes from addressing the whole person—mind, body, and relationships. Our comprehensive therapeutic program combines multiple evidence-based modalities to create individualized treatment plans.
Every student receives care from our team of licensed therapists who specialize in adolescent mental health. We integrate traditional talk therapy with experiential approaches that help teens process emotions and build real-world coping skills.
Evidence-Based Approaches
Our primary therapeutic modalities are backed by extensive research and proven effective for adolescent mental health.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Evidence-BasedCBT helps teens identify and change negative thought patterns that lead to problematic behaviors and emotions. By understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and actions, students develop healthier coping strategies.
- Identify distorted thinking patterns
- Develop problem-solving skills
- Build healthy coping mechanisms
- Challenge negative self-talk
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Evidence-BasedDBT combines acceptance and change strategies to help teens who struggle with intense emotions. Students learn skills in four key areas: mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.
- Mindfulness and present-moment awareness
- Distress tolerance techniques
- Emotion regulation skills
- Interpersonal effectiveness
Trauma-Informed Care
SpecializedMany teens arrive at ERA with histories of trauma. Our trauma-informed approach creates safety, builds trust, and helps students process difficult experiences without re-traumatization. We use Seeking Safety and other proven trauma protocols.
- Trauma-focused CBT techniques
- Seeking Safety curriculum
- EMDR when appropriate
- Safe processing of difficult memories
Substance Abuse Treatment
12-Step BasedFor teens struggling with substance use, we offer comprehensive addiction treatment including the 12-Step program. Students attend AA/NA meetings on and off campus, with staff and therapists participating alongside them.
- 12-Step program education
- Weekly AA/NA meetings
- Relapse prevention planning
- Dual diagnosis treatment

Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy
Our certified Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy program offers a powerful experiential approach to healing. Horses are incredibly perceptive animals that mirror human emotions—providing immediate, non-judgmental feedback that helps teens gain insight into their feelings and behaviors.
Working with horses builds trust, improves communication skills, and helps students develop healthier relationships. Many teens who struggle to open up in traditional therapy find breakthroughs in the barn.
Family Therapy & Involvement
Healing doesn't happen in isolation. Family involvement is critical to lasting change, which is why we make family therapy a cornerstone of our program. Rebuilding trust, improving communication, and strengthening relationships are essential for successful reunification.
Parents aren't just observers—they're active participants in the therapeutic process. You'll learn alongside your teen, attend seminars, and develop the tools needed to maintain progress at home.
