Eagle Ranch Academy uses a Choice-Based, Core Value Behavioral Change Model—not behavior modification tactics. We teach teens to make the right choices because it's the right thing to do, not because of external rewards or punishments.
While behavior modification programs use point systems and levels that don't reflect real life, our approach produces internalized core values that lead to lifelong change. We focus on 8 Core Values: Accountability, Honesty, Forgiveness, Acceptance, Integrity, Respect, Trust, and Service.
The typical length of stay at Eagle Ranch Academy is 9 to 12 months. Our goal is to help your child address their issues, get healthy, and return home as quickly as possible.
Because we use a Choice-Based approach, we don't force students through the program. The time it takes depends on several factors including the issues involved, how long the issues have been present, and how the student engages in the process.
Eagle Ranch Academy accepts boys and girls ages 12 through 17. We are licensed through the State of Utah, Department of Human Services, Office of Licensing, as a Residential Treatment Center (RTC).
Yes, Eagle Ranch Academy is a true co-ed program. Life is co-ed, and it's important for struggling teens to learn, practice, develop, and internalize core values as well as appropriate social skills in a co-ed environment.
Students are organized into 3 different "Family Groups" or "Pods" of 14-16 teens—both male and female. The co-ed environment is fully integrated from 8 AM to 8 PM with 24/7 awake supervision.
No, ERA is nondenominational and not affiliated with any religious organization. We do recognize each student's right to practice a religion of their choosing, and we believe it is important to have some spiritual component in daily life.
Eagle Ranch Academy helps teens struggling with a wide range of challenges, including:
- Anxiety and depression
- Trauma and PTSD
- Behavioral issues and defiance
- Substance use/abuse
- Self-harm behaviors
- Technology and gaming addiction
- Family conflict
- Academic struggles
Our program is an intervention program intended to be implemented before a child enters the judicial system, although there are special situations when a child is released by the court to attend ERA after careful consideration.
